Knife Experts! I need some advice!

I have decided it is time for me to purchase a new knife set for the kitchen. I started doing some research, but all the information is overwhelming!

My requirements:

1) I can't afford afford a set that is more than $100 so don't even recommend J.A. Henckels or Wusthof, they aren't in my budget this year.
2) I must have a chef's and bread knife and would like a set of shears and a santoku in the set.
3) The block must be black or light colored wood to match my decor.
4) I won't buy a set that is made in China.
5) They have to be durable and hard working. I use the heck out of my knives.

I came across a "Ginsu International" set that looked pretty good. Does anyone have experience with this brand?
